Wing Loading:
Refers to the relationship between a canopy's planform area and it's suspended weight. It is usually expressed in units of lbs per square foot.
To calculate this, divide the total system weight (jumper, clothing and all equipment) by the canopy's surface area.
Example:
| Jumper |
150 lbs |
| Clothes |
5 lbs |
| Camera helmet |
6 lbs |
| Equipment |
15 lbs |
| Total system weight |
176 lbs |
Canopy size 240 ft2
Wing Loading =176/240=.73 lbs / ft 2
Ideal wing loading on the Mojo BASE canopies is between .7 lbs / ft 2and .8 lbs / ft 2
